The Church of Scientology International announced the first time ever release of an online video presentation of Scientology founder, L Ron Hubbard this week. The ten minute video on the Scientology Video Channel presents a chronological overview of the major milestones and significant achievements of Hubbard’s life.

His enduring legacy includes his presence as one of the most prolific and widely read authors of all time, with over 250 million copies of his books and recorded lectures in circulation, and as the founder of the only major religion established in the 20th century—Scientology—growing at an unprecedented rate.

This video, containing historical footage and still spanning three quarters of a century, much of it drawn from Hubbard’s archives, can now be viewed on the Scientology Video Channel and on the Official Church of Scientology Video Channel on YouTube.

While Scientology has become a household word internationally, to understand a religion one must have an understanding of its founder. Thus the question: What kind of man could have founded the only major religion of the 20th century?

Hubbard was a man who maintained that to know life, one must live life. He lived life from the top down and the bottom up. He saw much suffering and wisdom, and worked for a quarter of a century to bridge the gap between east and west and between science and religion. Hubbard has inspired a religious movement spanning all continents and cultures, which now includes over 7,500 churches, mission and groups in over 165 countries.

In an effort to meet the unprecedented public and online demand for more information on Scientology, and to answer the question—”What is Scientology?”— the Church of Scientology International has been engaged in a continual pro-active online campaign to provide accurate information to inform the general public of Scientology’s beliefs and practices.

In March 2008, the Scientology Video Channel launched 82 videos, providing a comprehensive understanding of the beliefs and practices of Scientology, and the programmes the church supports, including dozens of public service announcements illustrating the social betterment programmes sponsored by the church. One month later the church launched the Official Scientology Video Channel on YouTube.

With the premiere of this online video presentation of Hubbard, the Church of Scientology continues its commitment to keep the public informed by regularly providing new material online.
